Thanks to the great work of our local amateur radio operators in assisting city, county, and state government. Hopkins County is endorsed by the National Weather Service as a Storm Ready County ! Thank you to all area hams who have helped make this possible !

Upcoming Events

We are in the planning stages for the annual Winter Spill Exercise, to be held in October. We are hoping to make contacts with amateur radio operators from all nine counties in the Pennyrile Area District during the exercise.  For more information, contact Frank Wright (KA4IGR) at the EMA office (270) 821-5717.

Repeater Status

The repeater seems to be working better than ever, thanks to Jim Hunt (KA4FWI.) Jim tested the repeater from top to bottom, and located a faulty jumper on the duplexers. After replacing the jumper and putting a pre-amp on the receive side of the repeater, it's hearing much much better. We'd like to get reports from all area radio operators, to get a better idea of how much improved the receiver is.  We are now discussing the possibilities of adding a bit more power to the transmit side to bring it to 25 watts.  When that's completed, hopefully our repeater system will be as it was during the days it was on the old cablevision tower several years ago.
