Testing Information
SCHEDULED TESTING DATES
NOTICE
Testing will be on the 2nd Saturday of each even numbered month at
3:00 P.M. in the E.M.A. Building in Madisonville, Ky.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ADULTS (OVER 18 YEARS)
New applicants who have never been licensed will be
required to show a photo type I.D. (Drivers License) Advanced
notice is required only for an applicant who have special needs. (See
Special Needs) All applicants who desire testing for new license or
upgrade will register on site the day of testing. Registration will
begin at or about 7:00 PM. Testing will then begin and continue until
all applicants have finished testing and certificates are issued for
passed elements. Testing fee is $14.00
AMATEUR UPGRADES
Applicants who hold a current Amateur Radio License and wish
to upgrade must show a Photo I.D. Current license holders must
bring their original license with them and have a copy of this license
ready to surrender. The copy will be verified and the original will be
returned to you. The same applies for any certificates you may hold for
elements passed for which you have not yet received a license. Original
and copy required. Testing fee is $14.00
SPECIAL STUDENT I.D. REQUIREMENTS
An applicant who is a minor and does not have a photo I.D.
such as a drivers license will be given special consideration. These
young applicants will need to be accompanied by their parent or
guardian who must show their I.D. and certify the I.D. of the young
applicant. Some form of I.D. such as Birth Certificate, School I.D. or
A Library card, will be accepted as proof of I.D.
RETESTING OF FAILED ELEMENTS
If an applicant fails to obtain a passing grade for any
element, he or she may wish to re-take that element. Re-testing request
for failed elements will be evaluated on the spot by the VE Team. If
you ask and qualify, you will be required to re-register and pay the
testing fee again. ($14.00)
TEST MATERIAL
All theory test questions are taken from the Official FCC
Question Test Pool. You should insure that the material you are
studying is from the current test pool. There have been those in the
past who have failed tests because they had been studying outdated
material. You may check your study material against the dates listed
below to ensure your study guide is current.
CURRENT OFFICIAL FCC TEST QUESTION POOL DATES
TECHNICIAN (ELEMENT 2) EXAM POOL
Current "Technician" exam pool dates are - July 1, 2003 - JUNE
30,2006.
The "Technician" Exam contains a total of 35 questions. (5) of these
questions will be on "RF Safety".
GENERAL (ELEMENT 3) EXAM POOL
Current "General" exam pool dates are - July 1, 2004 - JUNE 30, 2007.
The General Exam contains a total of 35 questions. (5) of these
questions will be on "RF Safety".
EXTRA (ELEMENT 4) EXAM POOL
Current "Extra" exam pool dates are - July 1, 2002 - JUNE
30, 2008.
The Extra Exam contains a total of 50 questions.
SPECIAL TESTING NEEDS
Occasionally,
there are those who need special consideration when taking the exams.
If you have a special need, please call the Volunteer Examiner Liaison
not less than 48 hours before the exam.

TESTING SITE LOCATION
The Test site is located in Madisonville, Ky. in the
Emergency Management Agency Building located at 130 N. Franklin St.
directly behind Harris Funeral Home.
Franklin St. runs parallel to and 1 block East of Main St.
TEST RESULT FILING
All testing results are Mailed via the United
States Postal Service the night of the test and usually arrive at ARRL
Headquarters in about 3 days. If you are a new applicant, you can find
your new call sign and begin using it immediately, usually within 7 to
10 days of passing the examination. This information can be found on
the Internet at
http://www.qrz.com. You will receive the hard copy of your
license in the mail usually within 2 or 3 weeks.
